Appliqué with Folded Cutwork

Supply list:
Plain (typing) paper cut into 8" squares (15-20 pieces)
Pencil and eraser
Paper scissors
Two 14" squares of freezer paper
15" background block
15" square of fabric for appliqué
Fabric marking pencil
Thread to match appliqué fabric
Needles for appliqué
Small pins for appliqué
Small scissors

Cherry Wreath
This adaptation of a traditional cherry wreath pattern includes corded stems, padded fruit and a ruched butterfly plus chain stitch and stem stitch embroidery. An introduction to dimensional applique; the focus of this class will be on hand applique and embroidery.
Supply list:
Fabrics:
15" background block.
For main stem: 3 bias strips cut 1/2" x 12" color of
your choice.
For cherries: 8" square of red or color of your choice.
For leaves: 12" square of green or color of your choice.
For butterfly: bias strip cut 1 1/4" x 4".
Sewing threads to match all fabrics.
Quilting thread to match butterfly fabric.
Embroidery floss for leaf and cherry stems.
8" square of cotton blend batting - Fairfield Cotton Classic
or Hobbs Heirloom Cotton recommended.
50" length of white or green polyester rug yarn and
#16 or #18 tapestry needle.
Template material.
RucheMark Strip Ruching Guide (will be available for purchase in class - $12)
Assorted sizes (8-12) sharps or straw needles for applique and embroidery.
Small pins for applique.
Small pair of scissors.
Other basic sewing supplies.
